
Nunez's Walk-Off Completes Comeback Climb

Modesto, CA. - Dom Nunez finished the Modesto Nuts' largest comeback of the season with a walk-off single to defeat the San Jose Giants 7-6 on Friday night at John Thurman Field.
After the Nuts (14-21; 40-65) fell behind by five, Dom Nunez kicked started the offense with a two-run double in the sixth. He finished with three RBI on the night. The Nuts took their first lead scoring four runs in the seventh. Emerson Jimenez scored on a wild pitch. Omar Carrizales made it a one-run game with a RBI single and Drew Weeks put the Nuts in front with a two-run single.
In the top of the eighth, the Giants (16-19; 55-50) tied it back up when Jonah Arenado lashed a solo home run to start the inning against Troy Nieman (W, 4-3). Nieman resiliently allowed just one more single and struck out four to keep the game tied after the eighth and ninth innings.
With two outs in the bottom of the ninth, Josh Fuentes smashed a double off the wall against reliever Carlos Diaz (L, 0-1). Nunez won it for the Nuts with a walk-off RBI single back up the middle. It was the Nuts' first walk off since May 24th. The five-run comeback is the largest by the Nuts this season.
Jack Wynkoop started for the Nuts. He worked five innings and surrendered five runs on seven hits with five strikeouts and one walk.
Jose Reyes went six innings in his start for the Giants allowing two runs with four walks and four strikeouts.
