Inland Empire 66ers News Release

San Bernardino, CA - Inland Empire was tamed by Giants pitching falling to San Jose by a final score of 4-2. The loss drops the 66ers to 0-8 on the season, which matches the franchise record for consecutive losses to start a season.

The 66ers were held scoreless until the 8th inning thanks in part to the strong pitching performance of Jason Forjet. The Hollywood, Florida native threw five innings of shutout ball striking out eight while only allowing one hit in five frames. Forjet's effort helped him pick up his first win of the season.

San Jose jumped out to an early 1-0 lead when Steven Duggar hit a home run off 66ers starting pitcher Alex Klonowski in the 1st inning. The Giants would add three more runs on an RBI single by Johneswhy Fargas in the 5th, a wild pitch in the 7th and a passed ball in 8th inning.

The 66ers would answer back in the 8th with two runs off San Jose reliever Reyes Moronta. Caleb Adams lead off the inning by drawing a walk and then scored on an RBI double by Jeff Boehm. Boehm would then advance to third on wild pitch. He would later score in the frame when Travis Arakwawa singled to center. It was not enough however as Rodolfo Martinez would come into the game and earn his third save of the season retiring the 66ers in order in the 9th inning.

The series continues Friday at 7:05pm. Jeremy Rhoades (0-1 5.40 ERA) takes the hill for the 66ers while San Jose counters with Andrew Suarez (0-0 3.60 ERA). The game can be heard on KPRO 1570AM as well as 66ers.com.
