Six Warriors Prospects to Take Part in Circle K Classic

The Moose Jaw Warriors will be well represented at the 2023-24 Circle K Classic in Calgary, AB this week.

2023 first round pick Aaron Sawatzky will lead a group of six Warriors prospects taking part in the annual Under-18 AAA tournament, starting on Wednesday.

Sawatzky and the Airdrie CFR Bisons will take on the Warman Wildcats on Wednesday, they battle the Bishop Kearney Selects on Thursday and finish the pool play against Shawnigan Lake School on Friday.

So far this season, Sawatzky has four goals and six points in 21 games with the Bisons in the Alberta Elite Hockey League.

Joshua Banini, Landen McFadden and Mason Renaud will be suiting up with the Edmonton Jr. Oilers Blue at the Circle K Classic.

Banini has an 8-5-2 record in 16 appearances with the Oilers Blue this season, posting a 2.85 goals against average and a 0.919 save percentage in the AEHL.

McFadden is leading the Oilers Blue in scoring with 16 goals and 29 points in 21 games this season. He's tied for second in the AEHL in goals and sits sixth in points.

Renaud has a goal and eight points through 21 games with Edmonton.

The Oilers Blue go up against South Kent School on Wednesday, they take on the Chicago Mission on Thursday and then close out pool play against the South Alberta Hockey Academy on Friday.

William Chabot and the Prince Albert Mintos hit the ice against the Calgary Flames on Wednesday, they take on OHA Penticton on Thursday and then battle Shattuck-St. Mary's on Friday.

Heading into the tournament, Chabot has a goal and two points in 25 games this season with the Mintos in the Saskatchewan Male U18 AAA Hockey League.

Goalie Jonah Tonhauser and OHA Penticton open the tournament against Shattuck-St. Mary's on Wednesday before take on Chabot and the Mintos on Thursday. They finish pool play against the Calgary Flames on Friday.

Tonhauser hasn't appeared in a game yet this season with OHA Penticton.

The tournament opens on Wednesday and runs through Monday, Jan. 1.
