
Mateychuk, Yager & Canada Win Opener over Finland at World Juniors

Team Canada got the opener they were looking for at the 2024 IIHF World Junior Championship on Tuesday.
Denton Mateychuk, Brayden Yager and Canada skated to a 5-2 win over Finland in their opening game in Gothenburg, Sweden.
Mateychuk picked up an assist on Canada's opening goal by Brandon Wheat Kings forward Nate Danielson.
While Yager was held off the scoresheet, his drive to the net helped set up Macklin Celebrini's eventual game-winning goal.
Owen Allard, Matthew Poitras and Maveric Lamoureux also scored in the win for Canada.
Team Canada will be back on the ice on Wednesday to face-off with Latvia at 12:30 p.m.
