The Kelowna Rockets will kick off the second half of their season after the holiday break by wrapping up their eight games away from home with their first meeting of the regular season against the Kamloops Blazers on Wednesday at the Sandman Centre.

WRAPPING IT UP ON THE ROAD

Kelowna hit the road for a pair of road games against Vancouver and Seattle that they split on December 1 and December 2. On December 9 they opened their east division road trip with a 5-4 victory over the Regina Pats. The five-game trip saw the team go 4-1, with their lone loss coming on December 14 against the Brandon Wheat Kings. In their final game of the trip on December 16, Kelowna came back to take down the top team at the time in the WHL, the Saskatoon Blades, 5-4 in overtime.

GETTING IGGY WITH IT

TIj Iginla will hit the ice for the first time since being named the Western Hockey League's Tempo WHL Player of the Week for the week ending December 17, 2023. The 2024 NHL Draft-eligible centre contributed to all three game-winning goals as the Rockets went 3-1-0-0 on the week to close out a seven-game road trip.

He currently leads all Rockets skates in goals with 25, as of today, he's on pace for 53. No Rocket has hit 50 goals in a regular season since the 2005-2006 season, where Justin Keller had 51 goals and 88 points over 72 games.

KAMLOOPS RETURNS HOME

The Blazers will play their first game at home since December 3. Just like the Rockets, Kamloops also hit the road for their east division trip before the holiday break. They went 1-4 on the trip, picking up their lone win a 5-3 victory over Moose Jaw in their final game before the break.
