Rome, GA - The Asheville Tourists defeated the Rome Braves 4-3 Friday night at State Mutual Stadium before a crowd of 2,326.The fourth and final game of the series will be tomorrow at 7pm.

Braves' starter Carlos Perez struggled to find the strike zone in the top of the first and walked the first two batters of the game. After a double steal, Dustin Garneau hit a run scoring sacrifice fly to put Asheville on top 1 -0. Perez's control problems continued to haunt him in the second inning as he walked four more batters and gave up an RBI single to Rafael Ortega that extended Asheville's lead to 3-0. In the top of the third Corey Dickerson roped a one out triple off the right centerfield wall and was promptly brought home on a sacrifice fly by Mark Tracy to push the Tourists lead to 4-0.

In the bottom of the seventh the heart of the Braves lineup cut the deficit to 4-3 with two swings of the bat. With a full count Chris Garcia (13) hit an opposite field home run and three batters later Robert Hefflinger (7) launched a two run shot of his own bringing home Tommy La Stella.

The Braves pitchers shutout Asheville from the fourth inning on but unfortunately the Braves offense could not rally as the Tourists go home 4-3 winners.

Nick Schnaitmann (3-1) earns the win for Asheville and Carlos Perez (4-8) takes the loss for Rome. Bruce Kern picks up his sixth save.

It will be 80's Night at State Mutual Stadium tomorrow for the fourth and final game of the series beginning at 7pm. For ticket information, contact the Rome Braves at 706-378-5144 or log onto www.romebraves.com.
