Six Run Sixth Leads Greenville past Hickory

The Greenville Drive scored six times in the top of the sixth inning and pounded out 12 hits in a 12-2 win over the Hickory Crawdads Sunday night at L.P. Frans Stadium. For a fourth straight night a crowd of more than 3,000 watched, but the Hickory offense managed only four hits as Greenville won for a third time in the four game series.

Drive CF Yahmed Yema capped the sixth inning with a three run homer. He tripled in a run in the fourth inning and singled one home in the fifth. Yema went three for five with two runs scored and five knocked in.

Greenville 2B Dominic Ramos scored three times on a two for three night. Drive catcher Mike Leonard went two for three with a homer, two runs scored and three knocked in. Greenville 1B Logan Sorensen went one for three with two walks and scored three times.

The two Crawdad runs came in the fifth inning on Hickory RF Brad Corley's two RBI double plating SS Brent Lillibridge and 3B John Santiago.

Ryan Phillips started for Greenville and went four shutout innings allowing three hits. Reliever Ismael Casillas (3-4) worked three innings and allowed two runs on one hit to earn the win. Kyle Pearson (3-3) took the loss for Hickory working five innings and giving up five runs on seven hits.

The Crawdads play at Kannapolis Monday and Tuesday night. The 'Dads host the Intimidators Wednesday and Thursday.
