Southern Maryland Blue Crabs News Release

(York, PA) The York Revolution bats did not miss a beat Friday night, scoring a combined nine runs in innings five and six to eventually hand them a 12-1 victory over the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs. York first baseman Carlos Franco supplied almost half of the RBI's with four, which included a two run home run (5) in the eighth inning. All the RBI's did not matter as much though, with the Revolution starting pitcher Austin Nicely (W, 6-8) allowing just one run over seven and two-thirds innings of work. Nicely added four strikeouts to his impressive outing as well.

Both Nicely and the Blue Crabs starter Carl Brice (L, 3-3) were matching each other pitch for pitch for the first four innings. In fact, Brice was a little bit more successful, as Southern Maryland had a 1-0 lead going into the fifth inning thanks to an RBI single from center fielder Zach Collier.

The fifth inning is where Brice struggled though. York loaded the bases to begin the half inning, and quickly took the lead on an RBI single from center fielder Darian Sandford and a sacrifice flyout from James Harris. An RBI double from Jack Kenley and an RBI single from Franco forced Southern Maryland's Manager, Stan Cliburn, to go to Patrick Baker out of the bullpen. Baker immediately would give up an RBI single to designated hitter Wellington Dotel, which scored the sixth and final run of the nightmare inning for the Crabs.

The Revs kept the runs coming, picking up a surprising 12-1 win over the Blue Crabs, moving Southern Maryland to a 1-3 record in their last four games. York now moves to three games back of first place in the North Division, and the Crabs continue to see themselves tied for the top spot with Lancaster after the Barnstormers fell 9-1 to Long Island. Saturday's contest will feature a Southern Maryland newcomer, Josh Roeder on the bump.
