May 27, 2019 - Carolina League (CarL1)
Potomac Nationals News Release
Woodbridge, VA - In the series finale between the Potomac Nationals (20-30) and Frederick Keys (25-24), neither team cracked the scoreboard until the fans had completed the seventh inning stretch. Potomac scored six runs on six hits in the home half of the seventh inning in route to an eventual 6-2 win, which salvaged a series split.
Each team got a solid starting pitching performance, as LHP Carson Teel (ND) allowed just one hit over 4.1 scoreless innings for Potomac, while RHP Michael Baumann (ND) surrendered just four hits over six-shutout innings for the Keys. RHP Jorge Pantoja and LHP Hayden Howard (W, 1-1) combined for 2.2 innings of shutout relief for Potomac, as the teams remained scoreless until the bottom of the seventh inning.
Out of the Frederick bullpen, LHP Travis Seabrooke (L, 2-2) struggled mightily in his only inning of work. The left-handed reliever sandwiched a pair of outs around a one-out double from RF Telmito Agustin in the home half of the seventh frame, but then gave up five consecutive two-out hits. 3B Osvaldo Abreu got the scoring started with an RBI single, LF Nick Banks made it 4-0 Potomac with a three-run home run, while 1B Aldrem Corredor capped off the inning with a two-run home run of his own. Potomac led 6-0 after seven frames.
RHP Jhon Romero pitched the eighth inning for Potomac and gave up a pair of runs on three hits and a sacrifice fly, while RHP Frankie Bartow worked around a HBP in a scoreless ninth inning.
Potomac will head into the league-wide off day on Tuesday off of a series split and then head south to Myrtle Beach, SC and begin a four-game series with the Myrtle Beach Pelicans. The Pelicans will enter the series with the lowest winning percentage in the Carolina League.
First pitch at TicketReturn.com Field on Wednesday night is set for 7:05pm. The Potomac broadcast will get underway at 6:50pm with the P-Nats Leadoff Show. You can listen to the Potomac broadcast at potomacnationals.com or on the TuneIn Radio App.
