Frederick Keys News Release
WOODBRIDGE, VA. - A six-run seventh inning sunk the Frederick Keys (25-24) in a 6-2 loss against the Potomac Nationals (20-30) on Monday afternoon at Northeast Federal Field. The P-Nats scored all six runs with two-outs in the inning and got home runs from Nick Banks and Aldrem Corredor. Michael Baumann completed another quality start, tossing six scoreless innings with six strikeouts.
Baumann and P-Nats starter Carson Teel traded scoreless innings until Teel was pulled with one-out in the fifth. Teel allowed just one hit, while Baumann allowed four hits including a two-out triple in the fifth to Armond Upshaw but stranded him there by striking out Banks. The quality start is the second for Baumann this season, who has struck out at least six in all eight starts.
The P-Nats offense erupted for six hits, including five straight, in the seventh inning against Travis Seabrooke (2-2). Osvaldo Abreu tallied the game's first run with an RBI single and Upshaw followed with a base hit to put two on for Banks, who blasted a home run to give Potomac a 4-0 lead. Cole Freeman then singled on the next pitch from Seabrooke to set up the Corredor home run.
The Keys offense answered in the eighth with base hits from Yeltsin Gudino and Zach Jarrett to lead off the inning. Jomar Reyes doubled in a run and put Jarrett at third, who scored on Trevor Craport's sacrifice fly to make it 6-2. That was all Frederick would get.
Seabrooke took the loss after allowing six runs on six hits in one inning of work. Hayden Howard (1-1) picked up the win with a scoreless seventh inning in relief. The P-Nats used four pitchers in relief of Teel.
The Keys will take an off day on Tuesday, May 28 before welcoming in the Lynchburg Hillcats to Nymeo Field on Wednesday for a five-game series. The set includes a double-header on Thursday, May 30. Wednesday's contest is scheduled for a 7:00pm start time. Fans can listen to the game at frederickkeys.com or on the TuneIn app with pregame coverage starting at 6:45pm.
