Waterloo Black Hawks News Release
The Waterloo Black Hawks won for the third time in three days by upending the Sioux City Musketeers 3-2 at Young Arena Saturday.
It took just 71 seconds for the Hawks to pull ahead at the start of play. With traffic near the front of the net, Peter Krieger's wrist shot from the top of the right wing circle found its way past Kyle Hayton. Sioux City tied it at 9:34 when Jared Thomas was able to pull the puck from the end wall and pick his spot between Cal Petersen and the post to the Waterloo goalie's left. Twenty-eight seconds later, the Hawks pulled back ahead when Patrick Russell redirected Liam Pecararo's initial shot.
The trio of Pecararo, Russell, and Krieger continued to do damage in the second. Hayton was caught out of the net at 10:59 trying to play a dump-in. The puck took a funny hop off the glass right to Pecararo in the slot, and he scored easily into the open goal.
Jake Montgomery notched a goal 2:09 into the third period, drawing the RoughRiders back within one score. However, Petersen stopped eleven other third period shots and 30 for the game during the victory.
Waterloo also claimed wins on Thursday and Friday against the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders.
The Hawks are back on home ice Thursday for one of the final two home games remaining before the Christmas holiday. It's an iWireless College Night, with $7 advanced purchase tickets for all students with ID as Waterloo hosts the Tri-City Storm at 7:05. Fans can also exchange their unused football, basketball, or baseball tickets for $7 seats on Sports Swap night. For ticket information, call the Domino's Black Hawks Box Office at (319) 291-7680 or order online from waterlooblackhawks.com.
