Six Players with Stars Ties Named to NHL Central Scouting Final Rankings

LINCOLN, Neb. - Lincoln Stars forwards Paul Cotter and Jack Gorniak as well as defensemen Christian and Cole Krygier were named to the NHL Central Scouting Final Rankings released yesterday.

Cotter, 18, is ranked 112th among North American skaters, which forecasts him as a late 4th-early 5th round selection. The Canton, Mich. product finished the regular season with 18 goals and 21 assists for 39 points through 51 games with the Stars. The Western Michigan University commit earned the best overall rating during on-ice testing at the 2018 USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game. He played in the 2018 USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game, the 2017 World Jr. A Challenge with Team USA and the CCM/USA Hockey All-American Prospects Game (AAPG).

Gorniak, 18, is ranked 87th, which slots him as a potential late 3rd-early 4th round pick. The University of Wisconsin commit was named USAToday First Team All-USA Hockey as well as WHCA Player of the Year. In 45 games between Team Wisconsin and West Salem High School, he totaled 43 goals and 45 assists for 88 points. He was selected 218th overall (14th Round) by the Stars in the 2017 USHL Draft and played two games with Lincoln this season.

Christian Krygier, 17, is ranked 216th, which projects him to be drafted in the 7th round. The University of Wisconsin commit also appeared in the 2018 USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game as well as the 2017 World Jr. A Challenge and the AAPG. The Novi, Mich. native played in the 2017 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup and has posted 13 points through 98 games with the Stars in two seasons.

Cole Krygier, 17, is ranked 149th, which projects him to be a middle to late 5th round pick. The Novi, Mich. native totalled three goals and 14 assists for 17 points through 58 games with the Stars this season, only missing two contests while improving his career point total to 23 through 95 games. The University of Wisconsin commit had one assist in the 2018 USHL/NHL Top Prospects games and played in the AAPG in September as well as the 2017 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup in July.

In addition, two Stars affiliate players earned places in the mid-term rankings. University of Denver commit Sean Comrie is ranked 105th, projecting him as a 4th round pick, producing 34 points through 54 games with the Spruce Grove Saints (AJHL). Boston College commit Jack McBain is ranked 35th, projecting him as an early second round pick following a 58-point season with the Toronto Jr. Canadiens (OJHL).

The USHL saw 62 active players named to the NHL Central Scouting Final Rankings, which is the most of any junior league around the world.
