Six Players Join Admirals from ECHL

NORFOLK - Norfolk Admirals Assistant General Manager Bob Ferguson today announced the following six players have joined the club from the ECHL:

D Kyle Bushee - Signed to Professional Tryout Contract (PTO) from Elmira (ECHL)

D Ryan Hegarty - Recalled from loan to Fort Wayne (ECHL)

RW Matt Kennedy - Reassigned by Anaheim (NHL) from Fort Wayne (ECHL)

LW Garrett Klotz - Recalled from loan to Fort Wayne (ECHL)

F Andrew Rowe - Signed to Professional Tryout Contract (PTO) from Elmira (ECHL)

F Marc-Olivier Vallerand - Signed to Professional Tryout Contract (PTO) from Greenville (ECHL)

Bushee, 6-foot-0, 185 pounds, has appeared in 36 games with the ECHL's Elmira Jackals this season, leading all team defensemen with six goals and 18 points. The 27-year-old native of Otsego, Michigan, has appeared in five professional seasons. In 12 career AHL games between the Portland Pirates, Manitoba Moose and St. John's IceCaps, Bushee has posted one goal and three points with six penalty minutes. In 309 career ECHL games, Bushee has posted 27 goals and 109 points with 200 penalty minutes. An undrafted forward, Bushee played collegiate hockey for both Western Michigan University and Canisius College.

Hegarty, 6-foot-0, 200 pounds, has appeared in 28 games with Fort Wayne this season, posting one goal and three points with 16 penalty minutes for the Komets. A 22-year-old native of Arlington, Massachusetts, Hegarty was selected by the Anaheim Ducks in the fourth round (113th overall) of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft. The rookie blueliner completed a four-year collegiate career with the University of Maine last season, posting four goals and 29 points in 123 career collegiate games. Hegarty signed an AHL Standard Player's Contract with Norfolk on September 21, 2012.

Kennedy, 6-foot-2, 200 pounds, has appeared in 10 games with the Komets this season, recording one assist and six penalty minutes. The 23-year-old native of Richmond Hill, Ontario, is a third-year pro who has appeared in 111 prior AHL games with the Syracuse Crunch, posting six goals and 21 points with 135 penalty minutes. Kennedy was a fifth-round selection (131st overall) of the Carolina Hurricanes in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. The Anaheim Ducks acquired Kennedy along with Stefan Chaput in exchange for Ryan Carter on November 23, 2010. Kennedy played 260 games of junior hockey in the Ontario Hockey League between the Guelph Storm and Barrie Colts, netting 90 goals and 178 points.

Klotz, a 6-foot-6, 250-pound left wing, has appeared in two games with the Admirals this season, posting two penalty minutes. He has also skated in 17 games with the Komets, posting two goals and four points with 48 penalty minutes. The 24-year-old native of Regina, Saskatchewan, is a fifth-year pro with 157 career AHL games under his belt between Norfolk, Adirondack and Philadelphia, scoring four goals and 11 points with 191 penalty minutes. He has now appeared in 20 career ECHL games between Fort Wayne and Greenville, posting two goals and four points with 48 penalty minutes. An undrafted forward, Klotz signed an AHL Standard Player's Contract with the Admirals on September 26. He played 150 games of junior hockey in the Western Hockey League between the Red Deer Rebels and Saskatoon Blades, posting five goals and ten points with 229 penalty minutes.

Rowe, 6-foot-2, 190 pounds, has appeared in 36 games with the ECHL's Elmira Jackals this season, posting 16 goals and 36 points with 24 penalty minutes. The 24-year-old native of Muskegon, Michigan, has appeared in 89 career AHL games - all with the Adirondack Phantoms - scoring 15 goals and 23 points with 26 penalty minutes. In 48 career ECHL games between the Jackals and Greenville Road Warriors, Rowe has scored 22 goals and 44 points with 26 penalty minutes. An undrafted forward, Rowe skated three seasons at Michigan State University, posting 26 goals and 49 points in 94 games.

Vallerand, 5-foot-10, 190 pounds, has appeared in 34 games with the ECHL's Greenville Road Warriors, scoring 12 goals and 36 points with 33 penalty minutes. The 23-year-old native of Longueuil, Quebec, is a third-year professional. He has appeared in nine career AHL games between the Bridgeport Sound Tigers and Rockford IceHogs, recording two assists and seven penalty minutes. In 163 career ECHL games - all with Greenville - Vallerand has scored 70 goals and 144 points with 146 penalty minutes.
