Six Hurricanes Attend NHL Camps

LETHBRIDGE, AB - The Lethbridge Hurricanes Hockey Club announced Tuesday that six players from the 2022-2023 roster have been invited to take part in NHL Development Camps. Jett Jones (VGK), Bryan Thomson (DAL), Joe Arntsen (NYR), Chase Pauls (LAK), Harrison Meneghin (MIN) and Noah Chadwick (TOR) will all attend camps this week.

Jones, 21, is attending the Stanley Cup Champion Vegas Golden Knights development camp. He was undrafted by the Hurricanes in the WHL Prospects Draft, finished his WHL career appearing in 222 regular season games collecting 121 points (54g-67a) along with 122 penalty minutes. The Olds, AB, product also added three points (1g-2a) in eight career post-season games. He served as co-captain of the 'Canes for his final two seasons reaching the 20-goal mark in back-to-back campaigns. Jones set a career high with 50 points (21g-29a) in 67 games in 2022-2023. Following the WHL season, the 6'3, 207-pound forward signed a contract with the ECHL's Savannah Ghost Riders for the remained of the season where he appeared in three regular season games totaling one assist and two penalty minutes.

Thomson, 21, will attend the Dallas Stars camp. The Moose Jaw, SK, product who was a second-round draft pick (37th overall) in the 2017 WHL Draft by the Hurricanes signed a two-year American Hockey League contract with the Texas Stars following the 2022-2023 season. Thomson appeared in 24 regular season games after recovering from off-season hip surgery and posted a 13-8-1-1 record with a 2.64 goals against average and a sparkling .919 save percentage with three shutouts. The 6'4, 200-pound netminder finished his WHL career appearing in 117 games posting a 59-42-4-2 record with a career 3.06 GAA and a .901 SV% with five shutouts. Thomson finished second in 'Canes history in victories and fifth all-time in games played.

Arntsen, 20, is attending his second NHL development camp suiting up for the New York Rangers. The Dinsmore, SK, product attended the Carolina Hurricanes camp in 2022. The former second-round pick (35th overall) by the Hurricanes in the 2018 WHL Prospects Draft has skated in 202 regular season games in his four-year career amassing 82 points (21g- 61a) with 246 penalty minutes. He set a career-high with 11 goals in 2022-2023 while finishing two points shy of matching a career his in points ending the regular season with 35 points, leading the Hurricanes in points by defencemen. Arntsen has served as co-captain of the 'Canes for each of the last two seasons.

Pauls, 19, will attend the Los Angeles Kings development camp. The Osler, SK, product was undrafted in the WHL Prospects Draft before being signed by the Hurricanes in 2019. The 6'4, 224-pound rearguard has skated in 160 regular season contests with the 'Canes recording 46 points (16g-30a) along with 101 penalty minutes. Pauls finished the 2022- 2023 season with 20 points (7g-13a) and 65 penalty minutes in 66 games before adding one assist in four post-season games. He served as an alternate captain for the Hurricanes in 2022-2023.

Meneghin, 18, was invited to the Minnesota Wild development camp after a stellar rookie season in the WHL. The South Surrey, BC, product was listed and signed by the Hurricanes in 2021 after going undrafted in the WHL Draft. He appeared in 36 regular season games in 2022-2023 finishing with a 19-12-2-2 record with a 2.83 goals against average and a .908 save percentage with one shutout. Meneghin was named the WHL Goaltender of the Month in November while also finishing the season as a second-team all-star in the Central Division. He was also named the Hurricanes Rookie of the Year Award recipient.

Chadwick, 18, is attending development camp in Toronto after being selected in the sixth-round (185th overall) by the Maple Leafs in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft. The Saskatoon, SK, product finished his rookie season with the Hurricanes in 2022-2023 with 20 points (5g-15a) and 16 penalty minutes with a plus-9 rating in 67 regular season games. Chadwick added one assist in four post-season games. He has appeared in 80 career games with the 'Canes totaling 23 points (7g- 16a) and 20 penalty minutes. He became the 81st player in Hurricanes history to be selected in the NHL Draft and just the third 'Cane to be selected by the Maple Leafs. The former second-round draft pick by the Hurricanes was the first since 'Cane taken by an NHL team since Alex Cotton in 2020.
