Brandon Wheat Kings News Release
Brandon, MB. - The Brandon Wheat Kings are proud to announce that prospect Nigel Boehm has signed a WHL Scholarship and Development Agreement. Boehm, from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan was selected by the Wheat Kings in the second round, 28th overall in the 2023 WHL Prospects Draft in May.
"Nigel is a well rounded Defenceman that we were excited to get with the 28th pick. He's the type of player that always seemed to raise his level of play and rise to the occasion on the most competitive games,", said Chris Moulton, Director of Hockey Operations. "His character, compete, and overall leadership skills are intangibles that we are really looking forward to adding to our organization."
The 5-foot-11, 170-pound blue liner spent the 2022-23 season with the Saskatoon Generals, where he piled up 40 points (17G-23A) in 30 games to go along with 72 penalty minutes. His 17 goals ranked him 2nd in goal scoring by a Defenceman in the SSAHL U15 league last year.
Boehm becomes the third player of the Wheat Kings 2023 draft class to sign with the club, following 5th overall pick Jaxon Jacobson (Forward) and 19th overall pick Giorgos Pantelas (Defenceman).
