
Six Games Remain to be Part of History with RailRiders

Moosic, Pa. - Despite the calendar speeding towards September, there is still time to be a part of the new PNC Field's inaugural season. The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (Triple-A/New York Yankees) have just six home games left on their 2013 regular season, and the stretch run begins Wednesday with the Triple-A version of baseball's best rivalry.
The Pawtucket Red Sox (Boston) will return to PNC Field for the first time since the first four games of the season on Wednesday, Aug. 21. The PawSox are in the hunt for an International League North division crown, and the RailRiders would love to play spoiler to their rival. Help the RailRiders fight hunger by bringing at least one non-perishable food item to receive a free NEPA Honda Homer zone ticket. All donations will be collected by the Volunteer Action Center (VAC). Parents of kids that are 12 and younger will receive a break in their wallet on Wednesday, as it will be Kids Eat Free Night presented by Minooka Subaru. Kids 12 and under will receive a voucher for a free hot dog, soda, and bag of chips. The game will be broadcast live on My Network TV with the Voice of the RailRiders John Sadak and FOX56 sports director Bob Ide on the call. First pitch is slated for 7:05 p.m.
The series resumes with a Budweiser Thirsty Thursday on Aug. 22. Gates will open at 6 p.m., and for the first two hours after they open, Pepsi products and Bud Light will be just one dollar. The NEPA Miners football team will be in the ballpark on Football Night, and the RailRiders will also recognize Back Mountain Community Night. The band Dashboard Mary will entertain fans as they enter the plaza, and the baseball action will get underway at 7:05 p.m.
Friday, Aug. 23 marks the final Friday home game of the season. Couples Night will be celebrated at the ballpark, and those who register at Valentine's Jewelry will have a chance to win a shopping spree at Valentine's. Friday is also Diabetes Awareness Night, and fans will be entertained postgame by a fireworks show presented by Jack Williams & Kumho tires. Gates will open at 6 p.m. with 3rd Degree playing in the plaza, and first pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.
The Red Sox and RailRiders will conclude their series on Saturday, Aug. 24 on Back to School/Celebrate Reading Night. The first 1,500 kids 12 and under will receive a RailRider metal lunchbox courtesy of ShurSave and Pepsi. Kathy Miller, the author of "Chippy the Chipmunk", will read her book pre-game. The Fuzzy Park Band will play in the plaza, and the game will be broadcast live on My Network TV with Sadak and Ide on the call. The first pitch will be tossed at 7:05 p.m.
Following a short road trip to Pawtucket, the RailRiders return home on Wednesday, Aug. 28 for the final two games of the season at PNC Field. The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (Philadelphia Phillies) will return as the IronRail series will be decided between the two rivals. Parents need not worry about spending a lot of money at the concession stand, as it marks the final Kids Eat Free Night presented by Minooka Subaru. Kids 12 and under will receive a voucher for a free hot dog, soda, and bag of chips. The night also marks the final live television broadcast of the season on My Network TV with Sadak and Ide on the call. The baseball action will get underway at 7:05 p.m.
The RailRiders close out their home schedule on Thursday, Aug. 29. Fans should come thirsty, as the season will be closed out with a bang on a Budweiser Thirsty Thursday. Haze will perform as fans stroll into the plaza, and Bud Light and Pepsi products will be just one dollar for the first two hours after gates open. Keep an eye at the sky after the final out is recorded, as the RailRiders will close out their home schedule with a post-game fireworks show presented by Jack Williams & Kumho Tires. First pitch against the IronPigs is set for 7:05 p.m.
Plenty of great seats are available for the remaining six games. The RailRiders will close out the 2013 regular season on the road with two games against the IronPigs in Allentown, Pa., and then a short two-game series with the Rochester Red Wings (Minnesota Twins) that ends on Labor Day.
