Port Huron Fighting Falcons News Release

PORT HURON, MI - The Port Huron Fighting Falcons, proud members of the North American Hockey League, are pleased to announce that the team will send six players to the NAHL's Top Prospects Tournament in Troy, Michigan next month. The players will join Fighting Falcons Head Coach Michael Gershon, who will coach the North Division team.

Five Fighting Falcons players will suit up for the North Division, including Vito Aluia, Alex Archibald, Zach Badalamenti, Alex Blankenburg and Bryan Yim. Logan Lambdin will play for the NAHL's 18U Selects team, which is comprised of the league's best players age 18 and younger.

The NAHL's 7th annual Top Prospects Tournament is designed to provide participating players with maximum exposure to college coaches and professional scouts. Each year, the event draws over 200 scouts, and serves as a launching pad for NAHL players to jump to the collegiate and professional ranks.

"One of the best perks of leading our division is the fact that we get to send the most players to Top Prospects," said Fighting Falcons and North Division Head Coach Michael Gershon. "It's extremely rewarding for our coaching staff to be able to give these guys the opportunity to showcase their talent at this event. I only wish we could have sent even more of our players down to Troy."

As the top team in the North Division, the Fighting Falcons send the most players to skate for the North team (5). Players representing the Michigan Warriors (4), Johnstown Tomahawks (3), Soo Eagles (3), Springfield Jr. Blues (3) and the Janesville Jets (2) will join forces with the Fighting Falcons invitees.

Five of Port Huron's top six scorers will play in the tournament, with the lone exception being defenseman Jonathan Kopacka, who signed a commitment to play college hockey at Air Force Academy last week.

Each of the players representing the Fighting Falcons will take part in the event for the first time. Last season, Port Huron sent former captain Rick DeRosa, forward Nick Horne and goalie Max Milosek to the tournament.

The 2014 NAHL Top Prospects Tournament will be held at the Troy Sports Center. Daily passes to the event will cost just $10. Tournament games will also be available on www.FastHockey.com.

Tickets to any Fighting Falcons home game are available at the McMorran Arena Box Office, starting at just $7 for seniors, students and military. For more information, call the team's front office at (810) 966-3800.
