AMARILLO, TX - An Amarillo Bulls' Alumni garnered some national television attention this past weekend.
Forward TJ Sarcona made ESPN's Top 10 list on Saturday for his highlight reel shorthanded goal for Niagara University against RIT. Sarcona followed that marker up with another on Saturday as Niagara turned back RIT 5-1.
It was a special Saturday for Merrimack College's John and Hampus Gustafson. Hampus set up his brother John with the game winning marker as Merrimack held off UMass 3-2. Hampus Gustafsson also had an assist in a 5-2 loss the night prior.
Defenseman Geoff Fortman tallied his first NCAA goal on Saturday night as Canisius College defeated Mercyhurst 7-4. Forward Cody Freeman also had an assist in the game.
Matt Johnson set up two goals as Lake Superior State beat Bowling Green 5-3 on Friday night. Karl Beckman provided an assist as Holy Cross lost 5-3 to Bentley.
At Division III, Derek Hills scored twice as St. Scholastica dumped Lawrence University 4-1. Hills wasn't done yet as he tallied the next night in St. Scholastica's 3-2 loss to Lawrence. Blake Roubos had assists in both games. Dan McNamara also chipped in two helpers as St. John's edged Wisconsin-Stout 4-3.
Ryan Cole and TJ Sherman set up goals as Trinity College edged Connecticut College 4-3 in OT. Cole is now fourth in NCAA Division III scoring with 10 goals and 18 assists for 28 points. He also ranks third in assists with 18. Trinity College is second in the nation in offense, averaging nearly five goals per game.
The Battle of the Cattle resumes this Friday and Saturday night when the Amarillo Bulls host the Lone Star Brahmas at 7 pm at the Budweiser Bull Pen in the Amarillo Civic Center. Friday is Liberty Tax Service Night and the first 500 fans will receive a Liberty Taxes foam fan hat. One lucky person could win a Visa Cash Card. There will also be $1 hotdogs.
On Saturday it's Back The Badge Night Presented by Amarillo Crime Stoppers. There will be various emergency service vehicles displayed on the concourse.
