Six Different Scorers; Rebels Win 6-1 over Moose Jaw

For the second time in as many Wednesdays, the Rebels and Warriors did battle, this time in Red Deer. Last week, Ivan Nikolishin scored in overtime as the Rebels won 1-0 in Moose Jaw.

FIRST PERIOD

The Rebels didn't wait for overtime to arrive before scoring the opening goal in this one. Colton Bobyk blasted a one-timer past a screened Zach Sawchenko for his 11th goal of the season 6:44 into the opening frame. Evan Polei and Adam Musil assisted on the 1-0 Rebels goal.

Red Deer took a 2-0 lead when Reese Johnson found a rebound and went top shelf with a backhand shot for his 3rd goal of the year. Nelson Nogier and Jeff de Wit picked up the helpers on the 2-0 Rebels goal at the 10:21 mark.

It was 3-0 after the Rebels added a powerplay marker at 11:48. Ivan Nikolishin fired a shot on net, Sawchenko fumbled it and the Warriors ended up tapping the puck into their own net. Nikolishin's goal was his 27th of the year, set up by Conner Bleackley and Jake DeBrusk.

SECOND PERIOD

The Warriors found their way onto the scoresheet in the middle frame as Marc McNulty, left unchecked in the slot, outwaited Rylan Toth before putting home his 8th goal of the season. Moose Jaw pulled within 3-1 8:19 into the period.

The Rebels restored their three goal lead as the period was set to expire. Adam Helewka spun while falling and was able to put home his 24th goal of the year, set up by Nogier and DeBrusk, for a 4-1 Red Deer lead. The goal came at the 19:47 mark of the period.

THIRD PERIOD

Red Deer took its biggest lead of the night 1:40 into the final frame. A solid point shot from from Austin Strand found the net for the lanky blueliner's first goal of the season. Conner Bleackley and Michael Spacek earned mentions on the scoresheet with assists on the 5-1 goal.

A fortunate bounce gave the Rebels their 6th goal on the night when Haydn Fleury's pass hits a Warriors defender and went in for his 9th goal of the year. Spacek and Bleackley with the assists at 12:05 as the Rebels went ahead 6-1, which ended up being the final score in this one.
