Victoria, BC- The Victoria Royals scored four goals in each of the final two periods to down the Medicine Hat Tigers 8-2 on Wednesday night at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre.

The Royals skated into the second period down 1-0, before they exploded for four markers, as they peppered Medicine Hat goaltender Nick Schneider with 24 shots. Ethan Price registered two goals on the night for first star honours, while Victoria's Regan Nagy kicked off the eight-goal barrage. The Royals' Dante Hannoun scored the game-winner on a highlight reel give-and-go play with Matthew Phillips. Victoria's Marsel Ibragimov opened the scoring in the third period, only to be followed with goals from Tyler Soy, Matthew Phillips, and Ralph Jarratt. The Tigers markers were scored by Mason Shaw and Alex Mowbray.

For a trio of Royals' players it was a night of firsts; Ibragimov's goal was the first of his WHL career, while Victoria rookies Scott Walford and Ty Westgard both recorded their first career WHL points each, with an assist.

Royals' netminder Coleman Vollrath stopped 16 of the 18 shots fired at him. The Tigers' Schneider started in net and turned aside 31 of 37 shots he faced, before being replaced by Mack Shields who stopped five of seven shots in the game's final 10 minutes.

On the powerplay, Victoria went 1/5=20.0%, while Medicine Hat held a 0/3=0.0% mark with the extra attacker.

Victoria will conclude their six-game home stand this weekend with a back-to-back series against the Vancouver Giants on Saturday and Sunday. Puck drop for both games is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. respectively.
