Alaska Aces News Release

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - Peter Sivak scored twice and goaltender Olivier Roy earned his third shutout of the regular season on 16 saves, lifting the Alaska Aces (18-8-1, 37 points) to a 3-0 victory over the Ontario Reign before a crowd of 5,389 at Sullivan Arena on Saturday.

The Aces, who improved to 4-1-0 in their season long eight homestand and ended Ontario's franchise record nine game road winning streak, broke the scoreless tie with a pair of goals in the second period. Tommy Mele (7th goal) also scored in the win.

Ontario, outshot 16-4 in the first period, survived the Aces attack in the first period and gave up the game's first goal in resounding fashion. Sivak broke the scoreless tie in the second period on a 70-foot wrister from center ice that deflected into the net off Hutchinson's glove with 2:42 elapsed.

Mathew Sisca appeared to extend the lead to 2-0 when he finished Drew MacKenzie's centering pass at the goal mouth, but officials overturned the goal after Sisca deflected the pass into the net off his skate. The Aces continued to pressure the Ontario zone and confirmed their two goal margin with 4:15 left in the period, when Mele buried a wrister under the crossbar from the bottom of the right circle.

Sivak then finished off the Reign with an empty net goal with 23 seconds left after Brad Richard lobbed the puck out of the Aces zone to Sivak, who got behind the Ontario defense.

Hutchinson took the loss with 29 saves.
