Palm Beach Cardinals News Release
JUPITER, FL- The Palm Beach Cardinals and Brevard County Manatees combined to strand 35 runners, with the lone run pushed across by a Sean Danielson RBI double in the seventh, giving the Cardinals a 1-0 victory at Roger Dean Stadium.
Palm Beach starter Jaime Garcia (1-1) picked up his first win after being called up from Quad Cities, scattering ten hits over seven innings, walking none and striking out five. In his first start for the club against Brevard County last week, he picked up the loss.
The Manatees offense stranded 19 runners on the night after pounding out ten hits, led by right-fielder, Brendan Katin, going 3-for-4 on the night. Charlie Fermaint, Hernana Iribarren and Ryan Crew each had multi-hit games as well.
The Cardinals bullpen held on for the victory working the eighth and ninth innings. Set-up man Dennis Dove retired the first two Manatees' batters before giving way to closer Mike Sillman. Sillman picked up his Florida State League leading 18th save, by retiring four batters.
