Celebrate The 4th With The Tigers At Joker Marchant Stadium

Lakeland, FL (July 3rd, 2006) - The City of Lakeland and the Lakeland Tigers are once again teaming up to bring you Polk County's premier 4th of July spectacular. The Independence Day fun starts when the Lakeland Tigers square off against the Clearwater Threshers for a special game that starts at 5:00 PM on Tuesday evening. Following the exciting Florida State League baseball action, the finals for the "Polk County Idol" karaoke contest will take place on the field at Joker Marchant Stadium. The winner of the contest, sponsored by Bedrock Café and the Lakeland Tigers, will take home a $1,000 cash prize. After the contest concludes, the City of Lakeland will bring you a tremendous fireworks display in conjunction with the Tigers.

Tickets for the special ballgame, karaoke contest, and fireworks display are $5 for adults, $4 for children (14 & under), and $4 for senior citizens (55 & over.) Parking at Joker Marchant Stadium is free. Gates will open at 4:00 PM and tickets are available now.

In addition to the 4th of July events at Joker Marchant Stadium, the City of Lakeland is hosting the "Red, White & Kaboom" celebration around the Lake Mirror Promenade on Monday night, July 3rd. The popular band Blind Ambition will perform at the Lake Mirror Amphitheater starting at 7:00 PM and wrap up prior to a fireworks display over Lake Mirror at 9:30 PM.
