Sim's Shutout Leads Pats Past Raiders
October 12, 2022 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Regina Pats News Release
Regina, Sask. - Drew Sim picked up his first shutout in a Pats uniform as he helped lead his club to a 3-0 win over the visiting Prince Albert Raiders on Wednesday at the Brandt Centre.
Sim's 22-save effort spearheaded the Pats to a convincing win. Easton Armstrong, Tanner Howe, and Tye Spencer lit the lamp for the hometown Pats who led 1-0 and 2-0 at the intermissions.
Tikhon Chaika stopped 27 of 30 in a losing cause for the Raiders.
THE GOALS
First Period
REG 1-0 at 10:18 - Easton Armstrong (3), unassisted // A Pats shot was blockered away by Chaika but two Raiders defenders swiped at and missed the puck which ended up on Armstrong's stick in the slot. Armstrong made no mistake and fired the puck high blocker side to give the Pats a 1-0 lead halfway through the first period.
Second Period
REG 2-0 at 8:31 - Tanner Howe (5), unassisted // Bedard carried the puck into the Raiders defensive zone where he was dumped and somehow swept the puck back to Howe who ripped home a wrist shot to extend the Pats lead to 2-0.
Third Period
REG 3-0 at 2:34 - Tye Spencer (4), assisted by Connor Bedard and Luke Bateman // As Bedard was being pinned down by two Raiders defenders to the left of the Raider goal, the puck came loose where Spencer jumped for it and poked it past a down-and-out Chaika to extend the Pat lead to 3-0.
