ALBUQUERQUE, NM, Mar. 10, 2009 - Courtney Sims scored 25 points, grabbed 15 rebounds and blocked 5 shots as the Iowa Energy defeated the Albuquerque Thunderbirds 108-97 in an afternoon game today. Iowa jumped out to a 55-38 halftime lead and held on down the stretch to move their record to 22-14 on the season.
The Energy, playing game four of a five game road swing, were without All-Star Othyus Jeffers, who was out with the flu. Despite his absence, Iowa outrebounded Albuquerque 50 to 40 and made 31 of 35 free throws in the game. Former Iowa State star Curtis Stinson added 21 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists for Iowa in the victory.
Albuquerque was led by Will Conroy's 24 points and 10 assists. Albuquerque's record fell to 19-18 with the loss.
Iowa travels to Tulsa for a noon game on Thursday.
