
Simmons to Play in Rome Wednesday

Rome, GA - Atlanta Braves shortstop Andrelton Simmons will serve a Major League rehabilitation assignment on Wednesday at State Mutual Stadium. He has been on the 15-day disabled list since the All-Star break with a broken right pinkie.Simmons, in his first Major League season, was a key component in the Atlanta offense hitting .296 with three home runs and 15 RBI in 33 games before the injury. He also played stellar defense for Atlanta with a .982 fielding percentage. He was the National League Rookie of the Month for June.
Rome begins round one of the South Atlantic League playoffs on Wednesday at 7pm against the Asheville Tourists. It is Rome's first postseason appearance since 2006. Fans are encouraged to wear white to the game for a "whiteout" plus rally towels will be given out.
