Silvertips tap fountain of youth once again

Tonight at the Everett Events Center, the Everett Silvertips shut out their I-5 rivals, the Seattle Thunderbirds, with a final score of 3-0 in front of a charged up and rowdy crowd of 7,414.

The Silvertips started out the run with Tyler Dietrich putting one between the pipes in the second period with help from teammates Zach Hamill and Shaun Heshka. Graham Potuer, making his first WHL appearance and first goal in the regular season riled up the crowd early in the third with Barry Horman and Torrie Wheat aiding the WHL rookie. Sealing the deal later in the period, Michael Wuchterl tallied his first of the season with an assist from another rookie Derek Lewis. Doing an amazing job in net for tonight's game, Everett's young goaltender Leland Irving earning his first career WHL shutout, stopping all 19 Thunderbird shots.

At the end of the game Everett outshot Seattle by a margin of 25-19. On the power play, Everett went 0 for 9 while Seattle went 0 for 6.

The Silvertips travel north to face off against Prince George on October 22nd and 23rd. Game times for both games are set for 7:30. The next home game for Everett will be on October 27th against the Kamloops Blazers.
