Brandon Wheat Kings News Release

Brandon, Manitoba - Three members of the Western Hockey League's Brandon Wheat Kings will be traveling to CFB Shilo Monday night as Coca Cola and Source for Sports will host it's first Minor Hockey Caravan visit of the 2004-2005 season.

Veteran defenceman Steven Later will be one of three Wheat Kings skating with the Shilo Novice Knights from 7 -8 p.m. The 20-year old Winnipeg product will be joined by second year goalkeeper Mike Nichol and 17-year old rookie forward Tyler Dittmer.

One of four Brandon products on this year's team, Dittmer led the Manitoba AAA Midget Hockey League in scoring last season and was instrumental in Brandon capturing it's first ever National Midget Hockey Championship.

In addition to skating with members of Shilo Minor Hockey, the Wheat King players will be signing autographs and distributing youth tickets to all minor hockey players in Shilo for Sunday's game against the visiting Kootenay Ice at the Keystone Centre.

Under terms of this promotion, the Wheat Kings will visit five rural communities throughout the season, with another scheduled for mid November.

During the 2003-04 campaign, the Caravan made stops in Carberry, Birtle, MacGregor, Souris and Virden.

Communities interested in participating in this program are asked to contact Coca Cola Bottling in Brandon or Rod Klassen at Source for Sports in Brandon.
