Everett Silvertips News Release
Everett, WA - The Everett Silvertips returned to the Comcast Arena Friday night, with their third win of the season. Everett's largest crowd of the season, 7,133, saw the return of Kyle Beach to the 'Tips roster. Beach came to play giving Everett two goals on the night. Daniel Bartek continued his dominance over Seattle this season providing two goals and two assists on the night. Bartek now has seven points in two games against Seattle, (3G, 4A).
Kyle Beach made a huge impact in his first game back from training camp with the Chicago Blackhawks. It only took Beach 54 seconds to score his first goal of the '08-'09 WHL season. Seattle's Jacob DeSerres had trouble controlling a rebound after making a save on an Everett three on two rush. The loose puck in front, led to a scrum and Beach finding the back of the net making the score 1-0 early on.
Everett's second goal of the night came on a beautiful backhand pass from Shane Harper to Jordan Mistelbacher who was flying in on top of the crease. The tape to tape pass led to Mistelbacher lighting up Everett's second goal going top shelf stick-side on DeSerres at 6:15 of the first.
Everett kept the train rolling as three minutes later the 'Tips scored again on a scrum in front making the score 3-0. DeSerres continued to have trouble finding the puck in his crease which led to an easy tap in for Daniel Bartek. Kyle Beach made a highlight reel hit shortly after on Seattle's Thomas Hickey sending him over his own team's bench and sending the crowd into a roar.
On Seattle's third Power Play of the period, Vancouver '08 draft pick Prab Rai scored his third goal of the season after a bouncing puck went five-hole on Everett's Shayne Barrie. The end of the wild period had both teams putting up 17 shots a piece and Everett up 3-1 going into the second.
Seattle continued to inch themselves back into the game. After a back and forth 2nd period, Thomas Hickey threw the puck from behind the net onto the stick of Seattle's David Richard. Richard, who was left untouched, fired the puck past the goal line at 17:39, making the score 3-2 Everett going into the 3rd period.
The Thunderbirds came out with determination in the 3rd, controlling the play for the first half on the period. Solid goaltending from Shayne Barrie kept the game tight as the period continued. The crowd erupted at 6:53 as Everett scored their second Power Play goal of the night. Daniel Bartek put home the rebound goal making the Everett lead 4-2. Kyle Beach sealed the game and added his second goal of the game at 15:05 on a wicked wrist shot sending Seattle back home and winning 5-2.
