
Silvertips Defeat T-Birds

Everett, October 10, 2008 - The Everett Silvertips defeated the Seattle Thunderbirds 5-2 Friday night at Comcast Arena.
Everett (3-3-1-0) took a 1-0 lead 54 seconds into the first period when Kyle Beach scored. Daniel Bartek had the only assist on the goal.
Jordan Mistelbacher scored at 6:15 of the first to give Everett a 2-0 lead. Shane Harper and Byron Froese had the assists. Bartek scored a power-play goal at 9:12 of the first to put the Silvertips up 3-0. Kellan Tochkin and Mike Alexander had the assists.
Seattle (1-6-0-0) got on the board at 12:53 of the first when Prab Rai scored a power-play goal. Thomas Hickey came out of the right corner with the puck and put a shot on goal from the right face-off dot. The shot rebounded to Rai to the right of the goal. Rai quickly slammed the puck past Everett goalie Shayne Barrie.
Both teams had 17 shots on goal in the first period.
The T-Birds cut the lead to one goal when David Richard scored at 17:39 of the second period. Hickey gathered the puck behind his own goal and headed up ice. He carried the puck through the neutral zone and down the left wing. Hickey was heading behind the Everett net when he centered the puck to Richard in the slot. Richard beat Barrie over the blocker for his fourth goal of the year.
Seattle outshot Everett 9-7 in the second period and led 26-24 in total shots going into the second intermission.
Bartek scored a power-play goal at 6:53 of the third period to put the Silvertips back in front by two goals. Harper and Tochkin had the assists.
Beach scored at 15:05 of the third for the final Everett goal. Bartek had the only assist.
The Silvertips outshot the T-Birds 9-6 in the third period and 33-32 in the game.
Seattle goalie Jacob DeSerres made 28 saves on 33 shots and his record is now 1-3-0-0.
Barrie faced 32 shots and made 30 saves. His record is now 2-2-1-0.
The T-Birds stay on the road to take on the Portland Winter Hawks on Saturday at Memorial Coliseum at 7:05 p.m. They finish out the weekend against the Chilliwack Bruins at 5:05 p.m. on Sunday at Prospera Centre.
