
Silvertips Slip By T-Birds

Everett - The Everett Silvertips defeated the Seattle Thunderbirds 3-1 Friday night at Comcast Arena in Everett.
Everett (45-20-3-2) took a 1-0 lead at 4:01 of the first period on a goal by Markus McCrea. Dan Iwanski and Clayton Cumiskey had the assists.
Everett outshot Seattle 12-7 in the first period. Seattle (18-40-7-5) tied the game 1-1 with a power- play goal by Charles Wells at 6:42 of the second period. Wells beat Everett goalie Kent Simpson with a quick snap shot from the slot. The goal was unassisted.
Kellan Tochkin scored a power-play goal at 11:35 of the second to put the Silvertips in front 2-1. Radko Gudas and Ryan Murray had the assists.
The Silvertips outshot the T-Birds 16-13 in the second period and led 28-20 in total shots after 40 minutes.
Scott McDonald scored at 13:22 of the third period to extend Everett's lead to 3-1. Iwanski had the only assist on the goal.
Everett outshot Seattle 11-7 in the third period and 39- 27 in the game.
Seattle goalie Michael Salmon made 36 saves 39 shots and his record is now 1-5-0-0.
Simpson stopped 26 of 27 shots and his record is now 22-9-1-0.
The T-Birds take on the Portland Winterhawks on Saturday at ShoWare Center at 7:05 p.m. They finish out the season against the Vancouver Giants at 5:05 p.m. on Sunday at ShoWare Center.
T-Birds single game tickets for the 2009-10 season are available online at the T-Birds website and at the ShoWare Center box office. The ShoWare Center Box Office is open Monday through Friday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday game days at 10 a.m. and Sunday game days at noon.
