Everett Silvertips News Release

EVERETT, WA - Everett Silvertips Vice President/General Manager Doug Soetaert today announced that the club has signed forward Carson Stadnyk to a Western Hockey League Educational Contract.

Stadnyk, 16, was Everett's eighth round selection (#169 overall) in the 2010 WHL Bantam Draft. The Saskatoon, Saskatchewan native is playing in his hometown this season with the Saskatoon Contacts of the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League. He currently ranks third in the league in scoring with 15 goals and 12 assists for a total of 27 points in just 16 games.

Stadnyk's two shorthanded goals are tied for the league lead this year, while his six powerplay tallies rank second. The 6-foot-1 center had 11 points in a two-game stretch earlier this month, scoring seven times and adding four assists in his first two games of November. As a 15-year-old with the Contacts last year, he followed up a 19-point regular season with seven points (2g/5a) in nine playoff games.

"We're very happy to add Carson to our organization," Soetaert said. "He is a highly skilled and talented forward who we feel will be able to contribute to our hockey club in the coming years."

The WHL Scholarship not only encourages its graduates to pursue a post-secondary education, but also affords them the opportunity to continue playing hockey at an elite level in the Canadian University or College systems. For every season a player spends in the WHL, he receives a full year guaranteed Scholarship to a higher education institution. Each year over 300 WHL graduates attend a university or college on a WHL Scholarship.

The Silvertips continue a six-game homestand this Friday and Saturday against the Portland Winterhawks and Vancouver Giants at Comcast Arena. Group tickets and mini-game packages can be purchased in person at the team office inside at Comcast Arena or by phone at 425-252-5100. Single game tickets are on sale by phone (866-332-8449), online (comcastarenaeverett.com) or at the Comcast Arena box office.
