
Silvertips Shutout T-Birds

KENT, January 8, 2010 - The Everett Silvertips defeated the Seattle Thunderbirds 3-0 at the ShoWare Center in Kent Friday night.
After a scoreless first period, Everett led in shots, 10-6.
Everett (24-16-2-1) opened the scoring at 6:42 of the second period on Josh Winquist's second goal of the season. Scott MacDonald and Chris de la Lande were credited with the assists.
Everett extended their lead to 2-0 on Shane Harper's 26th goal of the season at 16:37 of the second. Clayton Cumiskey registered the only assist.
Everett outshot Seattle (13-23-2-4) 14-6 in the second period, giving them a 24-12 advantage through 40 minutes.
Everett took a 3-0 lead at 16:39 of the third period on a power-play goal by defenseman Alex Theriau. Kellan Tochkin and Zack Dailey registered the assists.
The Silvertips outshot the T-Birds 13-9 in the third period, giving them an overall advantage of 37-21 for the game.
Defenseman Ryan Aasman made his debut for the T- Birds after being acquired from Prince Albert on Wednesday for Jonathan Parker and a 5th round selection in the 2010 Bantam Draft.
The T-Birds also saw the return of center Brenden Silvester after he missed 29 games with a lower-back injury. Silvester last played October 17 against Prince Albert.
Seattle goalie Calvin Pickard (11-19-2-4) made 34 saves on 37 shots in the loss.
Everett goalie Thomas Heemskerk (13-8-1-1) made 21 saves to record the victory and his second shutout of the season.
The T-Birds return to action Saturday against the Prince George Cougars at the ShoWare Center at 7:05 p.m.
T-Birds single game tickets for the 2009-10 season are available online at the T-Birds website and at the ShoWare Center box office. The ShoWare Center Box Office is open Monday through Friday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday game days at 10 a.m. and Sunday game days at noon.
