Calgary, AB - The Calgary Hitmen scored three times in the first period en-route to a 5-2 home ice win over the Vancouver Giants Saturday night.
Five different Hitmen scored in the win with Tyler Fiddler and Brandon Kozun each notching their 20th goals of the season while Misha Fisenko, Matt MacKenzie and Cody Sylvester all scored their fourth goals of the season. Fiddler finished the night with a team high three points (1g 2a).
Special teams played a large role as Calgary went 2-2 on the powerplay while killing all five Vancouver man advantages including a 5 on 3 for 51 seconds.
Martin Jones made 19 saves in the Hitmen net to record the win as Calgary built period leads of 3-1 and 5-1.
Calgary now shares top spot in the WHL's Central Division with the Medicine Hat Tigers. Both teams have 58 points although the Hitmen have four games in hand.
Calgary will open a three game road trip Tuesday night in Prince Albert against the Raiders.
