Silvertips select Hromas in first round of CHL import draft

The 2004 Western Conference Champions, Everett Silvertips select left winger Karel Hromas in the first round (37th overall) in the 2004 CHL (Canadian Hockey League) Import Draft.

This past weekend Hromas was chosen by the Chicago Blackhawks in the fourth round (123rd overall) in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. The 6'2", 189 pound forward tallied 10 goals and added 10 assists in 21 games for Sparta (Czech Jr. Hockey League) this past season. Hromas also represented the Czech Republic in the 2004 World Junior Hockey Championship playing 7 games and adding 1 goal. The Beroun, Czech Republic native also participated in 7 games for his country in the Under-18 World Junior Championships tallying a goal and an assist.

Hromas is described as a very good skater with a good stride and balance. He is a very good playmaker with a good attitude and great competitor. He likes to hit and play a tough style and plays physical in the corners and along the boards. Hromas also has good defensive awareness and plays an aggressive game.
