Five Blazers selected through seven rounds

KAMLOOPS, BC/RALEIGH, NC - Blazer goaltender Devan Dubnyk and defensemen Roman Tesliuk and Max Gordichuk have been selected by the Edmonton Oilers in the first, second, and sixth rounds respectively at the 2004 NHL Entry Draft in Raleigh, North Carolina.

On Saturday, Dubnyk, the Canadian Hockey League's Scholastic Player of the Year, was the third Western Hockey League player, and the first CHL goaltender selected in the opening round, following Medicine Hat Tiger defenseman Cam Barker (3rd overall) and Calgary Hitmen forward Andrew Ladd (4th overall).

Tesliuk, from Murmansk, Russia, is the 8th WHL blueliner to be chosen in the top 44 selections by NHL clubs.

Gordichuk, a Kelowna native, was selected in the 6th round by the Oilers, following up two more Blazers on Sunday morning.

Forwards Kris Hogg (Sicamous, BC) and Moises Gutierrez (Anchorage, AK) also had their names called early Sunday. Hogg was chosen in the 4th round, 121st overall by the Western Conference Champion Calgary Flames while Gutierrez went in the 6th round, 164th overall to the Pittsburgh Penguins.
