June 30, 2004 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Saskatoon Blades News Release
Saskatoon, Sask. -- With the first overall selection in today's Canadian Hockey League Import Draft, the WHL's Saskatoon Blades are pleased to announce the selection of Czech forward Zdenek Bahensky.
Bahensky was recently selected in the third round, 73rd overall, by the Carolina Hurricanes in the National Hockey League Entry Draft.
The Blades had the first pick, due to the fact that they finished last in the standings during the 2003-04 campaign with just seven victories.
