Silvertips Rush past Prince George

PRINCE GEORGE, British Columbia - Bryce Kindopp scored a highlight reel game winning goal while Zack Andrusiak and Reece Vitelli (two goals) found the back of the net to help manufacture a four-goal rally, lifting the Everett Silvertips to a 4-1 victory over the Prince George Cougars on Tuesday in WHL action before 2,139 fans at CN Centre.

The Silvertips went 3-1 on a four-game road trip and picked up seven points in a span covering five games in six days and 1,100 miles of travel. The Tips reduced their magic number to 14 points for the U.S. Division title and improved to a four point lead over the Vancouver Giants for the top record in the Western Conference.

Dustin Wolf earned the win with 16 saves.

Ethan Browne parked a two-man advantage goal from the right circle for a 1-0 lead to Prince George at 5:56 of the first. The Tips settled the momentum and outshot the Cougars, 14-5 in the first period and continued to mount shots on Taylor Gauthier, who had 29 stops through two periods.

Wolf kept the Tips in the game and made his biggest save on Vladislav Michalchuk's one timer in the second period.

Eventually, the Tips broke through on a defensive breakdown. Kindopp found Andrusiak, who rifled his 36th goal of the season past Gauthier, under the crossbar with 2:31 left in the period to tie the game. Just 3:46 into the third period, Kindopp raced through the Prince George defense and neutral zone, winding his way to the left wing and parking a backhander past Gauthier for a highlight reel goal.

With the Tips nursing a 2-1 lead, they managed the clock and eventually found a bouncer at the net which Vitelli deposited for his 8th goal of the year and a two goal lead with 2:24 into the game.

Vitelli then sealed the game on an empty netter with 1:31 left in the game.
