Silvertips Recall Defenseman Montana Onyebuchi from Eastman Selects

EVERETT, Wash. - The Everett Silvertips (@WHLSilvertips) and general manager Garry Davidson announced today that the club has recalled rookie defenseman Montana Onyebuchi (Onn-yeh-BOO-chee) from the Eastman Selects of the Manitoba AAA Midget Hockey League.

Onyebuchi was selected by Everett in the third round (63rd overall) of the 2015 WHL Bantam Draft and signed to a WHL Standard Player Agreement on Sept. 3, 2015. The 2000-born defenseman joins the Silvertips blueline with 16 points (7g-9a) in 28 games this season, also posting 52 penalty minutes and three game winning goals.

Last season, the 6-foot-2, 190-pound blueliner was tied for third among defensemen in assists (10) for Eastman of the Winnipeg Bantam AAA Division-1 league. He earned 15 points (5g-10a) in 32 games, fourth among the club's defensemen. He is eligible for the NHL Entry Draft in 2018.

Everett returns to the road, where they're currently in a stretch of 10 games out of 12 overall away from home ice, tonight at 7:00 p.m. (1380 AM/WHL Live) against the host Kamloops Blazers.
