Silvertips Ready for 2022 WHL Draft Week

EVERETT, Wash. - The Everett Silvertips have as many as 12 picks to prepare for this week ahead of the Western Hockey League's two drafts. The WHL U.S. Priority Draft is set for Wednesday, May 18 with the WHL Prospects Draft to be held on Thursday, May 19.

U.S. Priority Draft

The 2022 WHL U.S. Priority Draft will consist of two rounds and 44 selections. The Everett Silvertips hold the 13th and 32nd overall picks, with order determined by the 2022 WHL U.S. Priority Draft Lottery. Players eligible for the 2022 WHL U.S. Priority Draft are 2007-born players who reside in Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Kansas, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Washington and Wyoming. Players not selected in the 2022 WHL U.S. Priority Draft will remain eligible to be selected in the 2021 WHL Prospects Draft on Thursday, May 19, or listed by a WHL Club at any time thereafter.

Everett made two selections in December's 2021 U.S. Priority Draft: forward Aidan Yi (14th overall from Culver Academy) and forward Cody Polumbus (31st overall from Sioux Falls POWER 15's).

Prospects Draft

Live coverage of the 2022 WHL Prospects Draft will be live-streamed FREE via WHL Live on CHL TV. No subscription is necessary. The 2022 WHL Prospects Draft Pre-Show begins with co-hosts Chris Wahl and Taylor Rocca at 8:30 a.m. PDT, with live draft coverage beginning at 9 a.m. PDT.

Everett, by virtue of finishing with the third-best overall record in the 2021-22 regular season, will select 20th overall in the first round. The Silvertips will also have picks in Round 4 (86th overall), Round 5 (108th), Round 6 (124th, via Moose Jaw completing a 2018 trade for Luke Ormsby), Round 10 (218th), Round 11 (240th), Round 12 (262nd), Round 13 (284th), Round 14 (306th) and Round 15 (328th).

Players eligible for the 2022 WHL Prospects Draft are 2007-born players who reside in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Northwest Territories, Yukon, Alaska, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Kansas, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Washington and Wyoming.

Players not selected in the 2022 WHL Prospects Draft will remain eligible to be listed by WHL Clubs at any time thereafter.

This is the 13th time the Silvertips will have a selection in the first round of the WHL Prospects Draft. Recent first-round selections who have gone on to play for the Everett Silvertips include defenseman Tarin Smith (20th-overall in 2021), defenseman Ronan Seeley (20th-overall in 2017) and Jantzen Leslie (15th-overall in 2015).
