Silvertips Lose At Home To Seattle

Everett Silvertips News Release

Everett, Wash. - The Everett Silvertips fell to the Seattle Thunderbirds 3-2 on Friday night, November 30th, at Comcast Arena at the Everett Events Center. Clayton Bauer scored on the second of what would be just 12 total shots on goal for the Silvertips as they faced the Thunderbirds on home ice for the first time this season. Everett trails the ten game season series 0-2-0-1 and their overall record now rests at 14-13-0-2 (30 pts.) which keeps them third in the U.S Division.

The Bauer goal came at 5:41 of the first period during the home team's first power play of the night. Jonathan Harty didn't get the full effect into his shot from the point and Shane Harper picked up the puck. Heading toward the net from the right circle, he attempted to reach across the crease and wrap the puck around Seattle goaltender Riku Helenius. Though unsuccessful, Bauer was there to finish the job.

Seattle responded prior to the period's halfway point when Greg Scott scored unassisted at the 9:26 mark. The teams spent the rest of the period exchanging power plays which also included a couple of separate 4-on-4 instances. However, in the second period those gave way to two man advantages for Seattle.

Everett's defense was up to the challenge and fended off every bit of what the Thunderbirds had to offer. Their penalty killing unit made things easy for goaltender Shayne Barrie and kept their chances alive of retaking the lead in the game's final period.

Unfortunately for the Silvertips it was Seattle scoring the only goal that was needed to claim the victory. Scott Jackson earned his 100th career point at 4:51 on a shot from the left circle. Everett had several power plays to close out the game but were unable to convert despite several strong chances during a late 5-on-3 advantage, and also while Barrie was pulled for an extra skater in the waning moments.

The Silvertips complete their brief two game week tomorrow night when they travel north to take on the Vancouver Giants. Game time at Pacific Coliseum is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. The team will return to the home ice of Comcast Arena at the Everett Events Center next Wednesday and Friday nights as they play host in each game to the Tri-City Americans. Game times are scheduled for 7:05 p.m. and 7:35 p.m., respectively.
