T-Birds take down Tips

Everett, November 30, 2007 - Seattle Thunderbirds defenseman Scott Jackson, in his return to the T-Birds lineup after missing 13 games with an ankle injury, scored the game-winning goal to lead the T-Birds to a 2-1 victory over the Everett Silvertips at Comcast Arena.

Seattle improves to 11-9-4-1 in the US Division as they get ready to face the Tri-City Americans on Saturday night in Kennewick. Game time is 7:05 p.m.

Everett took a 1-0 lead at 5:41 of the first period on a power-play goal by Clayton Bauer. Shane Harper and Jonathan Harty had the assists. Greg Scott tied the game 1-1 for Seattle at 9:24 of the first period with an unassisted goal. Scott got to a rebound in the right circle and put a shot on goal that deflected off a defenseman's stick and past Everett goalie Shayne Barrie. It was Scott's eighth goal of the year.

Seattle outshot Everett (14-13-0-2) 5-4 in the first period.

The T-Birds led 11-6 in total shots after two periods by outshooting the Silvertips 6-2 in the second period.

Seattle went up 2-1 at 4:51 of the third period on the second goal of the year from Scott Jackson. Jan Eberle brought the puck out of the right corner and fed Jackson at the right point. Jackson skated across the blue line to the left point, cut down the left boards and then skated into the left circle. He put a wrist shot on goal that beat Barrie high over the blocker. Prab Rai had the second assist on the goal.

Seattle killed off a 5-on-3 Everett power-play to end the game, which including an impressive blocker save from goalie Riku Helenius, to preserve the win.

The T-Birds outshot the Silvertips 18-12 in the game.

Helenius stopped 11 of 12 shots and improved his record to 6-7-4-0.

Barrie made 16 saves on 18 shots and his record is now 3-3-0-0.

The T-Birds travel to Kennewick on Saturday to face the Tri-City Americans at 7:05 p.m. at the Toyota Center. Seattle is back home on Tuesday, December 4, to face the Americans at KeyArena at 7:05 p.m. in the second game of a home-and-home series.
