EVERETT, Wash. - The Everett Silvertips rebounded in Game Two of the Western Conference Quarterfinal, evening the series with a 2-1 win at Angel of the Winds Arena Saturday night.

The Silvertips jumped out to a 1-0 lead 9:47 into play, as Tarin Smith rounded the blue line and deflected a shot off the legs of Austin Roest. Everett maintained strong possession in the opening period, nearly doubling Vancouver up in shots by a 17-9 discrepancy.

Roest potted his second goal of the contest 3:43 into the second period, converting a rebound from a Cade Zaplitny wrap-around attempt for his sixth career WHL Playoff goal. London Hoilett responded for Vancouver at 7:20 in the second period, netting a highlight-reel breakaway goal to halve the deficit. The Tips killed off a 4-on-3 powerplay late in the period and entered into the second intermission up 2-1, outshooting the Giants 37-16.

Tyler Palmer carried the Tips the rest of the way, stopping 21 of 22 shots in a bounce-back performance to seal his second career postseason victory. Everett's penalty kill improved from 0-for-3 in Game One to 3-for-3 in Game Two. Roest earned first star honors, while Cade Zaplitny (two assists) took second star. Vancouver netminder Brett Mirwald was named third star of the game, stopping 53 of 55 shots.

"I think that was the loudest I've ever heard this building," commented Silvertips co-captain Austin Roest.

The series now hits Langley Events Centre Wednesday night at 7 p.m. for Game Three, with Game Four slated for Friday night at 7 p.m. Everett will host Game Five at Angel of the Winds Arena Sunday, Apr. 7 at 4 p.m.
