
Silvertips Defeat Bruins 4-3 in OT

The Everett Silvertips came from a three goal deficit to defeat the Chilliwack Bruins by a final score of 4-3, in overtime. This was the fourth meeting of six and Everett leads the season's series 4-0. With the win the Silvertips now have a 40-7-0-2 record with 82 points. They remain on top of the US Division and the league. Chilliwack, now with 35 points and a 15-33-3-2 record, is tied for fourth place in the BC Division.
The Bruins got off to a commanding 3-0 lead in the first period. At 12:23 Colby Kulhanek caught a rebound between the hash marks and flipped the puck behind Leland Irving. On a power play at 16:12, Oscar Moller put one in net while the Silvertips had a two man disadvantage. Then at 16:54, on another power play, Kevin Boutilier hammered one home to give Chilliwack a three goal cushion.
Everett scored their first goal late in the second after Kyle Beach tipped in a shot from Ondrej Fiala, while the Silvertips were on a power play. Midway through the third Peter Mueller added one to the tally after his center point shot hit the left post and ricocheted in. Zach Hamill followed suit at 17:31 after he earned the tying goal while Everett had a 6-on-5 advantage.
Tied at three a piece the game went into overtime. A short minute and nine seconds later Dan Gendur scored the game winning goal after his shot hit the cross bar and dropped in to finalize the score board at 4-3. Posting assists on Everett's goals were Zach Hamill and Jason Fransoo with two and Ondrej Fiala, Peter Mueller, Moises Gutierrez and Dan Crowley all with one a piece.
In goal tonight for the Silvertips was veteran Leland Irving. Irving made 27 stops on 30 shots and boosts his record to 25-4-0-2. David Reekie made a brief appearance at the end of the second period. He didn't face any shots for the one minute and four seconds he was between the pipes. Former Silvertip Matt Esposito started in the net tonight for the Bruins. Despite making 43 saves on 47 shots he drops to 6-9-1-1.
On the power play both teams converted twice with Everett having seven chances and Chilliwack having five. The Silvertips out shot their opponents 47-30 in the hockey game.
On Wednesday, January 31st, the Everett Silvertips will host division rivals, the Tri-City Americans. The game starts at 5:05pm.
