Syracuse Silver Knights News Release

SYRACUSE, New York - The Syracuse Silver Knights (3-5, Eastern Division #3) got back on the winning track against the Harrisburg Heat (0-7, Eastern Division #5) after a late comeback attempt fell short for the Heat, 24-18.

Neto, the Silver Knight's leading scorer, lead the way against the Harrisburg Heat scoring 7 goals en route to the victory. The 7 goals for Neto was the most by one player in Silver Knights history and gives him 12 on the season.

The Silver Knights scored early and often starting with a goal 2:44 into the match from Neto. After the initial goal, the Silver Knights would not trail for the remainder of the Eastern Division matchup.

Neto and Corey Elenio scored two goals apiece in the opening quarter that helped give the away side a 10-4 advantage. From there the Knights never looked back.

The second frame saw the Knights pick up where they left off after the first. Neto and Nelson Santana were both able to find the back of the net in the second frame. The defense remained strong in the first half allowing just 3 goals to go into the half up 14-6.

Thanks to some halftime adjustments by the Heat, the second half was played tighter than the first two periods.

After giving up two goals in the opening minute to Neto, the Heat were able to outscore the Silver Knights 12-6 the rest of the way.

Chris Hall and Kenneth Fultz lead the way for the home side, each chipping in two goals in the match. Val Teixeira was able to contribute one goal and three assists on the night for the Heat. Teixeira was often on the ball and in control for the Heat when they needed him most.

Going into the final quarter, the Knights found themselves up 20-10 and were looking to go back to Syracuse with the win. The Heat had other plans, coming out and outscoring the Silver Knights 8-4 in the last quarter. The comeback attempt would fall short as the Knights held on to the victory.

Bryann OQuinn finished with 8 saves, most of which came in the second half after the Silver Knights were able to control possession for most of the first half.

The Silver Knights end the 2014 calendar year on a high note entering 2015. Syracuse will travel to Rochester to face the Lancers on Thursday, January 1 st for a New Years Day battle. The Silver Knights dropped the first match against the Thruway Rivals 12-11 in overtime on December 20th. The Knights will return home January 9th to take on the Lancers once again.
