Chicago Edges St. Louis 5-4 Saturday Night

St. Charles, Mo - In an intense and well-played game on both sides, the St. Louis Ambush were edged by the Chicago Mustangs in a 5-4 battle Saturday night, December 27 at Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates, IL. The loss dropped St. Louis to 2-5 on the season, while Chicago improved to 5- 4.

Ambush goals came from Elvir Kafedzic, Blake Ordell, Stefan St. Louis and Odaine Sinclair. The Mustangs got tallies from Alexis Camarena, Hewerton Moreira, Efrain "Wilo" Martinez and two from Miguel Vaca.

Officials charged the Ambush with 19 fouls, with 11 going to the Mustangs. As in the previous two meetings between these two teams, the St. Louis-Chicago rivalry resulted in a very physical game.

The Ambush collected 10 penalty minutes, while the Mustangs were only charged with four.

Despite the loss, Ambush goalkeeper Greg Crook continues to turn in one outstanding performance after another in goal, keeping the game close with a series of spectacular saves. Crook made 16 saves. Jesus Flores also shined in goal for the Mustangs, saving 19 in earning the win.

There will be little time for rest for the Ambush, who board the bus back to St. Louis to prepare to host the San Diego Sockers Sunday evening at 6:35 at the Family Arena. The Sockers also suffered a loss Saturday night, falling 10-7 to the Missouri Comets in Independence.

Fans in attendance Sunday night at the Family Arena will be treated to the Second Annual Mascot Soccer game at halftime, featuring Bushwhacker, Mak Attack, Fredbird, Louie from the Blues, Rampage from the Rams, plus several other mascots from local pro teams, colleges, and businesses.

Fans can take picture with the mascots on the concourse before the game. Gates open at 5:30 p.m.

College and High School students who show a valid Student I.D. can get a buy one, get one free ticket deal for Sunday's game at the Family Arena box office on Sunday.

Following Sunday's duel against the Sockers, the Ambush are back in action next Saturday, January 3 at 7:35 p.m., when the cross-state rival Missouri Comets invade the Family Arena for the first time this season.
