Quad Cities River Bandits News Release

Appleton, WI - Eddie Silva lined a three-run home run over the left field wall to give the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers a walk-off 6-5 win over the Quad Cities River Bandits on Wednesday night. The home run off of Willy Collado represented the first earned runs the right-hander had allowed since June 29.

Wisconsin jumped in front in the third inning thanks to the long ball. With two outs, Tristen Lutz hammered a 2-1 pitch from Cesar Rosado out of the park to left-center. The ball caromed off of the video board for Lutz's 13th home run of the season.

After the River Bandits came up empty with the bases loaded in the top of the fourth inning, Wisconsin doubled their lead in the bottom half. Gilbert Lara singled up the middle with one out in the frame and raced around to score on a triple of the wall in right field by Zach Clark.

Quad Cities scored an unearned run in the fifth to trim the deficit. Trey Dawson was hit by a pitch to start the frame and moved into scoring position on a wild pitch. He tagged and advanced to third on a Marty Costes fly ball. With one out, Chandler Taylor hit a towering pop up into shallow right field that was dropped by second baseman Eddie Silva, allowing Dawson to score and putting the Bandits on the board.

Rosado appeared to have a clean inning in the works in the bottom of the fifth, but David Hensley threw wide of first on a roller to third to extend the frame. Rosado then walked two straight hitters to load the bases. He was removed in favor of left-hander Tim Hardy. Hardy allowed an RBI infield single to Gilbert Lara which pushed the lead to 3-1. Jay Feliciano struck out with the bases still loaded to end the inning.

The Bandits took their first lead in a big seventh inning. Costes was hit by a pitch to open the frame and was joined on base by Taylor who walked. A single from Scott Schreiber loaded the bases and caused Wisconsin to go to the bullpen. Clayton Andrews entered and gave up a game-tying single to Jonathan Lacroix. Back-to-back sacrifice flies from David Hensley and Alfredo Angarita scored two more runs and gave the River Bandits a 5-3 lead.

That lead held until the bottom of the ninth. Clark grounded a base hit into right field off of Collado to start the inning. Darren Seferina struck out for the first out, but Lutz drove a base hit into left to bring the inning run to the plate in the form of Silva. Collado got in front with a slider and when he went back to the same pitch, Silva hammered out of the park to win the game.

The River Bandits outhit the Timber Rattlers 11-10. Miguelangel Sierra had three hits for the second straight game and Lacroix put together his fourth straight game with two hits. Lara had three hits to lead Wisconsin.

Rosado worked 4.2 innings and allowed three runs, two earned, on six hits and four walks. Hardy went 2.1 scoreless innings, striking out four. Collado suffered the loss after surrendering three runs in 1.1 innings.

The River Bandits (33-26, 73-56) finish off the series against the Timber Rattlers (30-29, 61-67) on Thursday night at 7:05 p.m. RHP Leovanny Rodriguez (4-6, 4.08) will get the call for the Bandits in a meeting with RHP Dylan File (7-9, 4.32) from Wisconsin.
