
Rodriguez Drives in Four for Chiefs

Geneva, IL - The Peoria Chiefs got four RBI from Julio Rodriguez but ultimately lost to the Kane County Cougars 9-6 on Wednesday night.
Rodriguez got the Chiefs on the board in the fifth inning against Kane County starter Cole Bartlett. Wood Myers led off with a double to left and moved to third on a deep fly out to right by Brandon Benson. Rodriguez hit a sharp ground ball to first base that was knocked down by Yoel Yanqui for an our as Myers scored to cut the Kane County lead to 7-1.
After the Cougars got that run back, Rodriguez came through again in the top of the sixth. Zach Kirtley singled with one out and moved to third as Nick Dunn picked up his second hit of the night with a single to right-center. Myers walked to load the bases before Bartlett recorded a second out. Rodriguez slammed a double off the wall under the scoreboard and just missed a grand slam. All three runners scored as the Chiefs cut the Cougars lead to 8-4.
Rodriguez led off the ninth inning with his second double of the game. With one down, Brandon Riley doubled to right-center to score Rodriguez and cut the Cougars lead to 9-5. After a flyout, Riley came around to score from second on a wild pitch to get the Chiefs within three at 9-6.
Angel Rondon (3-2) took the loss as he allowed eight runs, seven earned, on seven hits over four innings. He struck out three, walked three and hit two. CJ Saylor threw three perfect innings with six strikeouts. Thomas St. Clair allowed one run on three hits in one inning of work while recording one strikeout.
