New Orleans Baby Cakes News Release
Metairie, LA âJohn Patterson pitched a five hit shutout to lead the Tucson Sidewinders (64-61) to a 51to 0 victory over the New Orleans Zephyrs (63-61) on Wednesday Night at Zephyr Field.
The Sidewinders would score a run in the third inning off Zephyrs starter Pete Munro. Tim Olson would lead off the inning with a single to left center. After Jeff Waldron fouled out, Patterson sacrificed Olson to second. Danny Ramirez would single to center to score Olson.
That's all Patterson would need as he scattered five hits walking two and striking out three. Patterson improved his record to 8-4. Munro (0-1) making his first start of the season for the Zephyrs, suffered the loss pitching five innings allowing only three hits, walking none and striking out four.
The Zephyrs look to avoid the sweep on Thursday with Thirsty Thursday ($1.00 Soft drinks and beer) and "In to Win" contest following the game. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM with Bob Scanlan (1-6) to start for the Zephyrs and Scott Barber (0-0) for the Sidewinders. The game can be heard on WTIX-AM 690 and at www.zephyrsbaseball.com with Tim Grubbs and Ron Swoboda calling the action.
