February 26, 2007 - SPHL (SPHL)
Fayetteville Marksmen News Release
[FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.] - Rob Sich of the Fayetteville FireAntz, today, was named the Sherwood Player of the Week in the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL). He becomes the second player on the FireAntz to win the award this season, joining Tim Velemirovich, who received the honor earlier this month.
The Windsor, Ontario native had two games this past week in which he scored four goals. He totaled eight goals, two assists, 10 points and had a +5 rating.
Sich is the second leading scorer in the SPHL (69 points) trailing Knoxville's Kevin Swider by only two points. His 35 goals ranks him first in the SPHL, four ahead of Columbus' Ryan Rutz.
Since joining the FireAntz from the now-defunct Florida Seals, Sich has played in 16 games tallying 18 goals and 16 assists while compiling a +17 rating. The club has gone 11-5-0 over that 16-game span and moved into a tie for third place in the standings, a mere five points behind first-place Columbus.
The FireAntz next home games are this weekend, Friday March 2nd and Saturday, March 3rd at the Crown Coliseum. The I-95 rivalries will heat up as the Richmond Renegades invade the Crown on Friday and the Pee Dee Cyclones on Saturday. Great seats still remain and there are outstanding group rates available from the FireAntz office at (910) 321-0123.
